Should You Buy Furniture Material Yourself or Let the Carpenter Buy It?

Neither is wrong. Many carpenters work both ways and are honest either way. The point is knowing what goes into your furniture, because you can't see the core of a plywood sheet once it is laminated.
Why buying yourself usually works out better
- You see the stamp. Grade (MR, BWR, BWP), IS number and thickness are printed on the sheet. Once laminate goes on, they're hidden. Read them before: how to read a plywood stamp and the stamp checker.
- The right grade goes in the right place. BWP under the sink, BWR in the kitchen, MR in a dry bedroom. With one number for everything, it's hard to tell.
- Warranty in your name. Branded plywood warranties need the bill. If the bill isn't yours, the warranty isn't either: plywood warranty after laminate.
