How Much Material for a Double Bed? Full List for a 6×6.5 Box Bed, Hydraulic Bed and 6×4 Diwan
Short answer (estimates): a king box bed (6 × 6.5 ft) with a headboard takes about four 18mm, three 12mm and one 6mm plywood sheet. A queen hydraulic bed (5 × 6.5 ft) takes about three 18mm, three 12mm and one 6mm. A 6×4 diwan with storage takes about two 18mm and one 12mm. Add about 2 sheets of 1mm laminate, 3 of liner, 20–25 m of edge band and the hardware below.

The top is made in two lids (head side and foot side), so each piece is easy to lift. Keep the box off the floor on a plinth or short legs, especially on a ground floor.

Grade
- Upper floor, dry room: good MR plywood.
- Ground floor, damp wall, or near an AC drain: BWR. The box bottom is the first part to go when damp rises.

How many plywood sheets for a king size box bed? About 4 of 18mm, 3 of 12mm and 1 of 6mm, with a plain headboard. It's an estimate; check the carpenter's cut list.
Can the bed top be 12mm to save money? Only with strong battens underneath every 1.5–2 ft. Without them, a 12mm top sinks in the middle.
Plywood or block board for a hydraulic bed top? Both work in 18mm. Block board sags less over a long span; plywood holds the fitting screws well.
How much laminate for a double bed? About 2 sheets of 1mm for the outside and 3 of liner for the inside, depending on the headboard design.
