Plywood & Boards
Shuttering Plywood in Delhi
Shuttering plywood is the board used as the mould for concrete: the floor of a slab, the sides of a beam, the box around a column. Film-faced sheets give a smoother concrete finish and last more pours; plain sheets cost less for one-off jobs. We sell shuttering plywood to contractors and home builders all over Delhi.

Where to use Shuttering Plywood
- Slab (lentar) formwork
- Beam sides and bottoms
- Column boxes
- Staircases, chajjas and walls
How to choose
- Film-faced for repeated floors and a smooth finish; plain for small one-off jobs.
- 12mm on closely spaced supports, 18mm for wider spans, beams and columns.
- Oil before each pour, seal cut edges and store flat to get more reuses.
What shuttering plywood does
On a building site, concrete is poured into a mould and left to set. Shuttering plywood (also called centering ply or formwork ply) is that mould: the floor of a slab, the sides and bottom of a beam, the box around a column, the shape of a staircase or a chajja. Once the concrete sets, the ply comes off, gets cleaned and goes up again on the next floor.
Film-faced or plain
| Film-faced | Plain | |
|---|---|---|
| Face | Smooth, water-resistant film | Plain wood |
| Concrete finish | Smooth, less plaster | Rougher |
| Reuses | More | Fewer |
| Best for | Contractors, repeated floors, exposed concrete | One-off and small jobs |
Over a whole building, film-faced ply often costs less per pour, because it lasts more pours.
Thickness
- 12mm: slabs where props and runners are close together.
- 18mm: wider spans, beam bottoms, columns and heavy pours.
How much to order
An 8×4 ft sheet covers 32 sq ft, so a 1,000 sq ft slab needs about 32 sheets for the bottom, plus beams, edges and about 10% extra. The full method, with a table for different slab sizes: shuttering plywood guide.
Getting more reuses
- Apply release oil before every pour.
- Scrape concrete off after each use; don't hammer it.
- Seal cut edges with paint or sealant.
- Store flat and covered, off the ground.

Frequently asked questions
How many shuttering ply sheets does a 1,000 sq ft slab need?
About 32 sheets of 8x4 ft for the slab bottom, plus beams, edges and around 10% extra for cuts.
Film-faced or plain shuttering ply?
Film-faced gives a smoother finish and more reuses; plain is cheaper for one-off work.
How many times can shuttering plywood be reused?
It depends on the type and the care on site. Film-faced ply lasts more pours than plain ply. Oiling before each pour, cleaning gently, sealing cut edges and storing flat all add reuses.
Is shuttering plywood the same as BWP plywood?
No. Shuttering ply is made for concrete formwork, often with a film face. BWP plywood is made for furniture and wet areas in homes.
